Drawing a Pretty Face

Hi there, welcome back and it has been a while since I have drawn a pretty face. Recently I found this photo shot by the photographer Ven-Digo. The model he uses are absolutely gorgeous. So why not try to draw one of his models.

Portrait Drawing Video

For this drawing, I am using a 10B pencil. 10B are pretty much like charcoal pencil. The major difference between the two is that graphite gives off a shine whereas the charcoal is flat on paper.

How to Draw and Shade a Muscular Body

Bulging Biceps

When drawn correctly, the human anatomy offers a great finished piece of art that anyone would appreciate. Let me show you step by step on drawing this bicep and torso area using a 4B pencil. Human anatomy always looks complicated at first. But if we break down and visualize the major forms first, then everything becomes clearer. Then once we see it, we can shade it.

How to Draw a Stiletto

This drawing tutorial is on drawing and shading a stiletto with a 4B pencil. I believe this high hell pump was worn by Emma Watson.

For shading, I started shading in the darkest areas first which is the shoe itself. By establishing the darkest areas first, it will help you judge how dark all the other areas will need to be. If you go lightly at first, which is the safer way of drawing, you might end up darkening the same areas multiple times. Go as dark as you are comfortable with, but I believe the goal should be to shade it as close as possible with the first pass. It’s tough and I struggle with it too. But with practice, I believe I am getting better at it.

Also, make sure to draw what you see and not what you think a shoe should look like. The high heel shoe has many extreme angles, so make sure to check those elements when sketching the initial forms.

How to Draw a Beautiful Smile

Drawing a great smile is actually harder than it looks in my opinion, especially when the teeth are shown. Keys to a successful smile drawing is:

  • Looks for subtleties in the shading on the lips. The forms are complex and attention to detail is important to show the fullness of the lips.
  • Don’t draw and shade in too much details in the teeth. Less is more when it comes to drawing teeth. If you draw too much detail and fill it with hard lines, the mouth becomes creepy looking. Save that for your horror drawings.
  • Make the lips shine. Especially for female lips, more shine, more gloss, equals for attractiveness.

Drawing an Eye and Sae-Byeok

Finally got a couple of new videos up. One is drawing and shading an eye. You can try to guess who it is, but it is kind of easy to guess since the finished drawing is on the thumbnail. I should blur the thumbnail inorder to entice you to actually watch the video, haha. The other one is drawing the character Sae-byeok (HoYeon Jung) from the ridiculously popular Korean series shown on Netflix, Squid Game. That drawing didn’t turn out too well. Hopefully it was just rust from not doing any serious drawing for over a year.

For the recording, I have a camera on me so that you can see me as well. Let me know if that helps with the quality of the video. I tend to like it when I can see the person in the videos when I am watching others. I find it nice to be able to put a face to the voice.
